Let Your Light Shine
By Charles Swindoll
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.
Spirit-2-U-All

The weather. It spurns many an English conversation, but it is a metaphor of insight. On the 26th January it torrential-down-poured-rained with wind added to stir. Usually, one sees the grim skies, dirty streets, and immediately registers 'Don't go out'. But would you venture out still? I did, and in my car, went to my destination. Instead of an epic tale of blown-damp hair, wet-stuck-to-the-body clothing and a runny nose, I discovered an everyday reality cum lesson.
There are days when the key obstacle of the day is the 'Don't go out'-fear, possibly the insecurities / failures of your past. This may hinder you from beginning your dream, but I noted that I easily overcame by 'stepping out' of my home. In the same way you may have to 'step out', take a calculated risk of worth. When I got into my car, I drove and made choices that enabled me to reach my destination.
Therefore, I put forward that it is YOU who makes the choices to get to your destination, despite the rain and wind (i.e. negative talk of others, and the struggles that ensue). Note also that it is with your mind set on your goal that you are able to make the right choices. Didn't I say that I reached my destination?þ and so you will too. Just 'step out' with your 'mind set' and you will reach your goal.
"Therefore, I put forward that it is YOU who makes the choices to get to your destination, despite the rain and
wind"
