Mindset
In A Rush?
By Amari (at 21 years old)
Like children we often have an uncontrolled desire for greater speed and consequently, we design our space to increase the pace.
The acceptance of this fanatic craze of conquering space through dimunutising time has become a major aim of this mad race.
The faster we chase in haste, the less time we possess to pray, play and to take note of the ambivalence of our ways.
Like a busy bee we are speeding to the end of a short life, with not a minute to reflect or share because we are just too busy trying to put everything 'right', which often only finishes in the dark of night.
Continuing like a nomadic tribe in the cold stormy night, we blunder through trying to put right the chaos we create in our own cosmetic way.
At the break of day or the shattering of the night by the confounding alarm, we begin anew our part in the rat race. We continue our quest to reduce time, when this doesn't succeed some of us take 'speed' hoping to give ourselves more time to make up for that wasted at a fantastic rate.
All in all it seems a very pathetic sight, a fallacious thought, the running of the futile and reckless race by an ignorant race, which has yet to learn that more haste is often less speed.
Like the high performance engine that spurns a car from 0-50 in seconds, I received one fantastic revelation that revs my thoughts and actions. Every day I am presented with opportunities. One of my key opportunities I see is meeting others. In each interaction, I realized that there is always something to give and receive. These relationships or networks are dynamic and cyclical in nature. When you have assisted someone through a difficulty, provided guidance and support, you are there for the reason we need to be - meeting a need, fulfilling a desire and answering a prayer. When it is time to move on, someone meets you for a season, and as they share, you grow, learn, and laugh. Then you make lifetime connection that teach lessons of the emotional and moral kind, then you put what you have learned into use in the next interaction of life. You and I as role models have a reason for our lifetime. Let's make it a seasoned one!!
